Here we offer three varieties of decorative world maps. The maps have been
created from our 10 km database of world elevation data (pixel size 100 sq.
km) and have been made to the same high standard as our Mercator Basemaps. Each map
is a Mercator projection from 75°N to 60°S centered on 10°E, and the
download file is a 24-bit colour .png file.
The maps make excellent wall decorations which look attractive in any
setting. They also make stunning base illustrations for you to mark up for
your next project report. Since you have the image file, you can do both
things with your map!
The borders have been sized to result in an overall image proportion of 3:2,
so they fit off-the-shelf frames of this aspect ratio. The resolution of the
download files is 191 dpc/485 dpi so you can print them out straight away on A4- or Letter-size paper.
However, to show them at their best, try printing to fit Super A3/B paper (106 dpc/270 dpi).
You're right, we've named the Mondrian Maps after the Dutch painter Piet
Mondrian, who gave us those simple but beautiful solid colours-and-lines
pictures during the first half of the last century. His technique works well
for maps too!
